What is Civics? The primary content of this course pertains to the principals of government; the origins of the American political system; the roles, rights and responsibilities of United States citizens; and methods of of active participation in our political system. The course is also embedded with strong geographic and economic components to support civic education.
I know that many students find civics to be a very intimidating course, because they have never experienced a class as in-depth as civics. I promise that no matter who you are, you ARE capable of success. You have all the resources that you could possibly need to be successful at your fingertips and you also have all the necessary skills. Per the State of Florida Department of Education in Tallahassee, Florida, the course of Civics is an End of Course Exam (EoC) course. The EoC is a CBT (Computer Based Test) format consisting of approximately 50 multiple choice questions over one (1) 160- minute session. The test is scored from a range of 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest), and with 3s, 4s, 5s, signaling a passing score. Also mandated by the Department of Education the EoC Exam is worth 30% of the student's overall grade in the course of Civics.
